Hi there guys! A little bit of self promotion here.

First of all, who am i? I've made like 2 posts around here so I believe not a lot of people will know who I am. I'm Deleted_screen (duh!), a Snoken Productions member (Mine, Mine 2, Frost-series etc, most of them work at DICE now) - the youngest one, actually. Snoken recruited me when I made ModBuilder for Battlefield 2. (It sucked, but some DICE members liked it, yay!) Right now I work around on Battlefieldo doing Programming (on trial) while studying alongside it. Other information is useless, you got what you needed.

Some of you might've read my programming blog/website.

ModBuilder Battlefield 3 Configurator, yeah well, I started programming it before the release of MindWeaver's BF3 Config Utility and before the release of Realmware's BF3 Settings Editor - and if I have to chose myself, right now, Realmware's Settings Editor is really awesome. However, this software is a bit more advanced and more configurable - and it's really just about taste when choosing a settings editor/configurator.

So, what does ModBuilder Battlefield 3 Configurator has to offer?
Well the features list is over at the ModBuilder website, but basiclly it's like this:
    • 100% Compability with MindWeaver's BF3 Config Utility and Realmware's BF3 Settings Editor
    • Automatic Profile Repairing and Syncronization between MB BF3 CFG, BF3 Config Utility and BF3 Settings Editor
    • Ability to save profiles (auto-syncs with other bf3 configurators), advanced import/export functions
    • Ability to create and use Tweak Guides that help you or others creating the perfect configurations
    • Allround editor for ALL variables. Most variables are recognized, described and has custom interfaces.
    • Advanced ways to modify the MB BF3 CFG software using specified ini files and themes.
But the two big reasons why you should really use ModBuilder Battlefield 3 Configurator is:

Online Publishing of Configurations and Tweak Guides!
Basiclly, you can publish your configurations and tweak guides online, so anyone can view them and use them!

    Simple protocol support!
The possibilities are endless with this. basiclly, you use the mbbf3cfg://-protocol (or URI) and can directly interact and patch your configuration files, examples: Press here to turn Car Radio on and Remove Motion Blur! You can also use this to change settings in the MB BF3 CFG software itself and to open Tweak Gudies and Configurations directly.

    What now?

This is all a foreign language to me.

Yeah, a lil too much perhaps. About 2 months of coding with an average on 3 hours a day :p

It's a little more advanced then the other ones, yes, but basiclly it lets you do advanced customizations of your configuration file without entering BF3.

Probably the greatest shame of the game, plenty of people with the time, desire and talents from so many fields so desperate to do so much with this game and yet they are all hit with the brick wall of consolitis. Deleted is so much better than messing about with config files.

Thanks a lot bzb! Encourages me to keep doing this! Pleased to see you here by the way, it's been quite a while now! (3 years?) I'm still ashamed of how I behaved back then however, but it's great seeing you around.

I really love messing around with config editors to get my game perfect.

I can see a lot of effect has gone into this editor but only a few commands work, you have many in there which don't work.

Here is some input from an end user of the program, It is very complicated to use and you need 30-40 mins just to get used to setting it up with profiles etc.

Also there are no indications to what the actual command does and there is no information about the commands on the net as most dont work.

You need to compensate for the users who dont have a degree in computer science and make it simple to use.

I think i will stick with Realmware's as that has got my game perfect for me.

Best of luck advancing the software :)

If you're talking about the variables, then yes, not all are specified yet, a lot is still missing. You can however still edit all of them without problems.

Do you believe the profiling system is too complicated? What would you suggest to make it better?

As I said not every "command" (variable) is commented (yet), and it takes quite some time to explain every variable. I have fixed the top or most used variables, and since it's hard to find on the net it's also hard for me to fill it in.

It IS supposed to be more advanced then its competitors, but if you feel that you need a degree in computer science to actually just USE it, please specify why!

I believe you! I'm trying to fill out what Realmware and Mindweaver are missing in their apps, not making a clone out of theirs.
